Nice site. You brought us from Okinawa to Camp Pendelton Del Mar Amtracs in Late 77 as you were on your way to refitting. Something about the black powder cannons had to be replaced. R. Benson 77 USMC Amtracs

My name is Dave Edwards (mxkicks1@aol.com) I was a Marine tank mechanic with the 1st.Tank Bn. and was on the Alamo for 3 months on float between Subic Bay and Vietnam. I feel a kenship with the Alamo because of these 3 mos. I was on mess duty for about 28 days, and I remember having to clean the reffers one day and putting many boxes of milk in the gangway where they spoiled and were all thrown overboard, and we never had milk again for 13 months. And another time we were refueling at sea and collided with the refueling ship and tore some holes in the starboard side and had to return to Subic Bay for repairs. If anyone remembers these events e-mail me and lets talk.

I was on the Mighty MO from sept 65 to May 66. I was on the deck force. I would like to see the ship's log book from the this time. I am trying to validate that the Mo and an oiler had a massive ship wreck while refueling of the coast of Vietnam in 66. If anyone out there has the ship's log or remembers this please contact me at woglesby@wi.rr.com I would love to swap stories.

Hi mates, My name is Dennis Sikes. I was an SM3 in Beachmaster Unit One and I was aboard the Alomo in the later part of '67. I was on the bridge when someone pitched a grenade on the bridge. The only thing that kept anyone from getting killed was the fact that it rolled under the flag bag. Anyone else remember that?
